James F. Petrick, Ph.D.
- Chief Problem Solver


Dr. James Petrick is not only the “Chief Problem Solver” for Tourvey, but is also an Associate Professor and the Associate Department Head for Graduate Studies in the Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences at Texas A&M University. His research explores the determinants of tourists’ purchase behaviors. Pursuant to this interest, he has been examining the relationships between participants’ and visitors’ satisfaction, perceived value, and loyalty and their purchasing behavior. In eight years at Texas A&M, James has been awarded more than $1.5 million in research grants.


Recent research projects which he has conducted include: a strategic marketing plan for the National Park Service, accountability and advertising effectiveness studies for Texas Economic Development’s Tourism Division, tourism website evaluations for twenty states and thirteen cities, three national cruise ship passenger studies for Holland America Cruise Line, an economic impact analysis for the MCI Classic (P.G.A. golf tournament), golfer behavior studies for the Caravelle Golf Resort and for Cleveland Metro-Parks, overall program evaluation and mentor training for First Tee Greater Austin, and national conversion studies for the USDA Forest Service and for Myrtle Beach Entertainment Holiday. He is also the current President of the Texas Travel and Tourism Research Association.
